Uni.Asia Life extends support to Manjung Heamodialysis Centre

Kuala Lumpur, Friday – Uni.Asia Life, a DRB-HICOM and UOB company donated RM10,000 to the Manjung Hemodialysis Center to aid the construction of its new premises meant to cater to the increasing demand for its services in Manjung and the areas surrounding it.
Uni.Asia Life’s Chief Executive Officer, Ooi Say Teng presented the cheque in a ceremony held at Wisma DRB-HICOM to Ong H Shaw, Chairman of Manjung Heamodialysis Center. Tuan Haji Redza Shah Abdul Wahid, Executive Director/Group Chief Operating Officer of DRB-HICOM Berhad was present to witness the event.
Ooi in his speech said, “As a life insurance company, our main objective is to provide financial protection to our customers and contribution such as this, which is aimed at giving a new breath of life to those in need, synergize with the very purpose of our existence. It is due to this fact that we feel compelled and apt to get involve in such a worthy cause.”
Chairman of the Manjung Heamodialysis Centre expressed his gratitude to Uni.Asia Life, a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM and a DRB-HICOM and UOB company for playing an exemplary role in contributing towards making the construction of the much needed premises possible. Ong is hopeful that more organizations will follow the footsteps of Uni.Asia Life and come forward to contribute to this noble cause.
Manjung Heamodialysis Centre was established in 1995 and at present, about 70 patients are using the facilities available and the number is steadily increasing. The Centre is now experiencing congestion. The dialysis room, medicine storeroom, water storage area and R.O. system all need to be expanded and the dialysis machines need to be replaced or upgraded in accordance with the requirements set by the Ministry of Health.

About Manjung Heamodialysis Centre
The Manjung Dialysis Centre (Pusat Hemodialisis Manjung) is a charitable, non-profit organization that provides dialysis and medical care for eligible kidney patients in the district of Manjung. The Centre charges only RM60.00 per treatment. However, the needy and deserving patients will be further subsidized by the Board of Trustees.
The Centre was set up in 1995 by a group of generous civic-minded donors. It is managed by the Management Committee comprising of voluntary workers from the district.
